Anti-communism is the ideology of the total domination of capitalism. It is a system of fear, a symbolic order that must be overcome in order to achieve an emancipatory society. Ever since the spectre of communism began to haunt Europe, the ruling powers have united in a witch hunt. Anti-communism was born and set out to drive the idea of communism out of the minds of slaves, wage workers, precariously employed people, intellectuals, welfare recipients, nonconformists and those deemed globally “superfluous”. Since then, it has been an ideological armour that the bourgeoisie forges around its relations of production. It serves to protect private property and relations of exploitation against their enemies and against any ideas of forms of social organisation based on solidarity. While anti-communism found its most pronounced expression in the struggle against “Bolshevism” and during the Cold War, it is nevertheless part of a symbolic order that continues to exist to this day. Anti-communism is a regime of fear. The abolition of fear through the collective and solidaristic shaping of society would be communism.
