Thorsten Nagelschmidt's debut novel ‘Wo die wilden Maden graben’ (Where the Wild Maggots Dig) was published in 2007; at the time under his short name Nagel. And just like in his great 2020 novel ‘Arbeit’ (Work), in which he chronicles the stories of the people who make nightlife possible in the first place, Thorsten Nagelschmidt's first novel already tells of the highs and lows of life in the so-called creative industries. The only difference is that in ‘Wo die wilden Maden graben’ he portrays his protagonist, a singer and musician in a punk rock band on the road to success, in the very personal moments between euphoria and boredom, between glamour and monotony.

‘This was my twelfth or fifteenth, depending on how you count, maybe even twentieth tour with a punk rock band, mostly mine. Not counting hundreds of individual concerts and festivals.
