Feindliche Feminismen

In her new book, Sophie Lewis exposes the links and entanglements between the abuse of power and (supposedly) feminist ideologies. Using the examples of TERFs, liberal ‘girl bosses’, pro-life feminists and defenders of the police state, Lewis demonstrates that feminism is no guarantee of liberation, but is, through numerous actors, also in the service of racism, capitalism and authoritarianism.

The book is a journey through two centuries of feminist hostility towards genuine emancipation and self-determination for marginalised groups. Through a combination of incisive analysis, historical context and queer-feminist perspectives, Lewis crafts a combative, inspiring call for a new, truly liberating feminism – trans*-inclusive, queer-friendly, decolonial and anti-fascist.
