    Description

In 1991, the manifesto of the angry Riot Grrrls was published. But how did the movement develop afterwards? Were their demands actually met? Punk is definitely not dead - at least that's what some claim - and even today there are still critical voices in the punk scene that deal with issues like racism, sexism, homophobia and trans*phobia. All these voices can be found in "Our Piece of Punk", because it is time to continue the discussions.

"Our Piece of Punk" is a collection of drawings, comics, text contributions, discussions and declarations of love that deal with the possibilities and limits of queer_feminism in punk. However, the intention is not to look back nostalgically and it is not about looking into the past and saying "everything was better in the past" or losing oneself in riot grrrl nostalgia. Instead, this book features 40 people - musicians, concertgoers, festival organisers, punkettes, comic artists and sound engineers - who love and live today's punk and DIY (Do-It-Yourself). They look at this movement with all its peculiarities, rough edges, challenges and annoyances. It is a new edition that aims to give an up-to-date and diverse insight into the present of punk.

    About the authors:

Barbara Lüdde (Gwaendo) is a cartoonist currently living in Hamburg. She was born in Weimar in 1985. She originally started studying communication design, but dropped out and decided to do a master's in illustration instead. Her works are strongly influenced by subcultures, especially the DIY punk scene and its diverse forms of expression. In her free time, she likes to draw posters for corresponding concerts. Her everyday life is often accompanied by frustration about role patterns and other restrictions. But instead of getting angry about it all the time and staying in it, she processes these feelings in her pictures. She has no special activities as a hobby, but she recently joined the Thai boxing group for FLTI* (women, lesbians, trans, inter*) and is enthusiastic about this sport.

Judit Vetter, on the other hand, currently lives and laughs 695 km north of Zurich. She has tried and occupied various places of residence before settling there. Her passions are crafting, drawing and playing loud bass. She also loves bikes and spending time at flea markets. Her secretive side keeps us guessing about what she does during certain activities. Judit took an indirect route to complete her illustration studies at HAW Hamburg. After finishing a professional apprenticeship as a type designer/advertising technician in 2003, she worked partly self-employed, partly employed and sometimes unpaid. During this time, she brought countless parcels from A to B on her bicycle.
