Foreword by Yuval Noah Harari, author of "A Brief History of Mankind"
The book "Why We Love Dogs, Eat Pigs and Dress Cows" is dedicated to the analysis of carnism, a belief system that causes us humans to keep certain animals as pets, eat them or wear their fur, while we would never think of such thoughts for other animals. Social psychologist Melanie Joy shows how carnism causes significant animal suffering and global injustice and leads us to act against our own and others' interests, often without realising it. This book opens up the possibility for us to become aware of what carnism is and how it works. In doing so, we will be empowered to make more conscious choices about our food and lifestyle - because without awareness, there is no true freedom of choice.
