Anyone who has ever experienced the pulsating action in a mosh pit during one of Amyl And The Sniffers' sweat-inducing shows can guess how much energy has built up in the Australian band led by whirlwind Amy Taylor in a year without live performances. This explosive mixture of rock'n'roll is now unleashed on their latest album "Comfort to Me". At the end of 2020, Amyl And The Sniffers went into the studio with producer Dan Luscombe to record the album, which they had previously spent over a year developing at home. The influences range from old-school rock'n'roll (AC/DC, Rose Tattoo, Motörhead and Wendy O Williams) to modern hardcore (Warthog and Power Trip) and local heroes (Coloured Balls and Cosmic Psychos). For the lyrics, however, frontwoman Taylor drew inspiration from her rap idols and countless garage bands. Of the 17 songs originally recorded, 13 eventually found their way onto the album, which was mixed by Nick Launay (Nick Cave, IDLES, Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and mastered by Bernie Grundman (Michael Jackson, Prince, Dr Der). Amy Taylor describes the album as follows: If you have to explain what this record is like, I reckon it "s like watching an episode of The Nanny but the setting is an Australian car show and the Nanny cares about social issues and she "s reading a couple of books, and Mr Sheffield is drinking beer in the sun. It's a Mitsubishi Lancer travelling slightly over the speed limit in a school zone. It's realising how good it is to wear jogging bottoms to bed. It's having someone to cook you dinner when you're really devastated. It's when I'm shadowboxing on stage drenched in sweat instead of sitting quietly in the corner."
